Michael Doherty Sensei
Michael Doherty has been pursuing the art of karate-dō since 1976. He holds the rank of 6th dan as well as JKA certification as a “B” Instructor, “C” Examiner, and “A” Judge. He is the senior instructor at the North Vancouver club, is a member of the JKA-BC Technical Committee, and has previously been the Secretary and now is President of our Canadian national JKA organization (JKASKDWOC) . He holds a B.A. and M.A. in political science, and an LL.B., M.Jur. and Ph.D. in law. He has been a lawyer since 1989.
Salvina Sharp Sensei
Sensei Salvina Sharp is a JKA 5th Dan, the third highest ranking female in all of Canada. She has high level JKA instructors qualifications having completed three masters clinics. She has coached the JKA BC Karate Team and been member of the Canadian JKA National Team three times and placed in the top 16 at worlds. She is Middle School principle and an exceptional educator. Couple this with her excellent karate skills and Sensei Salvina Sharp is a phenomenal karate instructor.
Graham Mallett Sensei
Graham Mallett has been studying karate since 1967. He holds the rank of 4th Dan as well as JKA certification as "D" Instructor, "D" Judge and "D" Examiner. He is the senior instructor of the Tsawwassen club. He holds a Ph.D in Education and recently retired from the Faculty of Education at UBC.
Ashraf Omeria Sensei
Ashraf has been studying karate since 1979. Ashraf holds the rank of 4th dan as well as "D" Instructor, "D" Judge and "D" Examiner. He is one of the instructors at the Tsawwassen dojo.
Harry Sidhu Sensei
Sensei Sidhu is fortunate to have trained under some of the great Masters of karate and various martial arts. He started his study of karate in 1977 in Abbotsford with Shihan Robert Sidoli, was graded to Shodan (Black Belt) by legendary karate Master Shihan Hidetaka Nishiyama in 1981, and acquired valuable skills from many others.
Sensei Sidhu:
- is widely known for his skills as an instructor as he draws from his vast experience in martial arts.
- has numerous Provincial and National level tournament victories and continues to compete in Masters divisions.
- is the Chief Instructor for the Abbotsford Shotokan Karate Dojo and ESCAPE programs.
- is a Technical Director for JKA-BC.
- recently retired from a long career in federal law enforcement.
- achieved his current rank from Shihan Takeshi Oishi.
Paul Atkin Sensei
Paul Atkin Sensei is the Head Instructor of Kelowna Karate & Fitness Inc. and the West Kelowna Karate Dojo who holds the rank of 5th Dan with 36 years of karate experience and 27 years as a karate instructor. He is a JKA "B" Level instructor, "C" level Examiner and a "C" level Official. Since 2012 he has been a member of the JKA-BC Technical committe and was on the JKA-SKD National Executive from 2017-2019. In 2007 he completed a 1 year International Internship in Japan studying culture, business, teaching, and coaching. Paul Atkin Sensei also has a number of tournment accomplishments as well.

Joe Lappan Sensei
Sensei Joe Lappan began his study of karate in 1983. He holds the rank of 4th dan and is certified as an official by both Karate BC and the JKA. He also holds a NCCP Theory 3 Certificate. Sensei Joe is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario and is a Vice-President and Portfolio Manager and Senior Wealth Advisor with RBC Dominion Securities.
Brock Smith Sensei
Sensei Brock Smith holds the rank of 3rd dan. He is a lawyer with Whiteboard Law.
